The National Biosample centre is a world renowned sample management and high capacity bioprocessing facility and now a UK lighthouse lab working in the fight against COVID-19

        The 60,000²ft space was originally an open plan industrial unit. Now having been an ongoing project for us, the unit is now an industry leading government lighthouse laboratory, with several "Superlabs" designed for COVID-19 testing and sample testing. Several large open areas, designed to house a number of LN2 (Liquid Nitrogen) tanks. two mezzanine areas, one of which has now been converted into additional lab space and cutting edge offices, the other which has been made for storage. as well as additional storage areas which are filled with both small and large freezers dedicated to store up to 4 million samples each. These freezers create unwanted heat throughout the facility, meaning air management and extraction is extremely important throughout.

        We have installed the necessary ducting and air handling systems throughout the building to keep the facility at the correct controlled temperature and give the building correct air flow.

        The building also has also undergone a full toilet restoration as well as adding additional welfare areas such as swabbing booths, tea mess areas and new office areas and conference rooms. A canteen has also been added to keep up with staff numbers. All of the works have been designed and fitted out by us.
